The easy read on Texas is a team in free fall: two straight losses, Colin Simmons reportedly out, Arch Manning's job in question. That's the wrong line. Texas led Oklahoma 17-7 at halftime and Florida 17-3 late in the first half, and lost both by three. Locked On Longhorns' Brad Kellner says Texas plays 15 to 20 minutes of elite football every week. Saturday comes down to the other 40. Two days to Texas. Nine to Auburn. Steven Willis crosses over with Brad Kellner of Locked On Longhorns: what Colin Simmons' absence changes, Kewan Lacy's homecoming, a banged-up Texas backfield, whether Arch Manning is playing for his job, players to watch on both sides, and each team's path to a win in Austin. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss vs. Texas: the game we expected three weeks ago 1:26 Texas has led by double digits in both losses 2:19 What Colin Simmons' absence changes for Ole Miss 3:55 Kewan Lacy goes home to Texas 5:21 A banged-up Texas backfield 6:55 Ole Miss protection vs. a struggling Texas offensive line 9:56 Is this Arch Manning's swan song? 11:00 An Arch problem or a Sark problem? 15:36 Ole Miss players to watch: Caleb Odom and Caleb Cunningham 16:03 Texas offense to watch: Ryan Wingo and Raleek Brown 17:06 Ole Miss defense to watch: Luke Ferrelli and Blake Purchase 17:38 Texas defense to watch: Rasheem Biles and Lance Jackson 21:03 Texas's path: contain Will Echoles, win the middle eight 22:27 Ole Miss's path: confuse Arch like Missouri 24:27 Texas: few explosive plays, no SEC takeaways 25:27 What a win in Austin opens up 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Brad's numbers: Texas has been outscored 37-14 in the second halves of its two losses and hasn't scored a third-quarter touchdown since Week 1. It hasn't cracked 25 points against a Power Four opponent. "Texas is playing 15 to 20 minutes of elite football every week… it's what's happening in the other 40 to 45 where Texas just looks lost." 2. Brad on KJ Lacy's reps this week: "It's not just a slight uptick… it's a lot." Steve Sarkisian says Arch Manning starts, but Brad's read is that a 17-0 hole and a turnover or two would bring the switch mid-game. Steven's answer is the Missouri plan: show pressure, hide who's coming, and make the quarterback decide. 3. Without Simmons, Ole Miss can run its full offense instead of chipping with backs and keeping tight ends in to block. Per the Texas game notes, Simmons has 10.5 sacks, 5.5 of them against Tennessee. And Kewan Lacy, from Lancaster, Texas, comes home off 122 yards on 16 carries against Missouri. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🍎 5-HOUR ENERGY — Try the new sugar-free Caramel Apple 5-Hour Energy Shot, only at https://5hourenergy.com or Amazon. 👕 PANTS STORE — Ole Miss hats, polos, quarter zips, tees, clear bags and more, shipped wherever you are: https://www.pantsstore.com 🔧 SUPPLYHOUSE — Pros, become a Trademaster at https://supplyhouse.com/TM and use promo code SH5COLLEGE for 5% off your first order. Everyone's Texas conversation this week is about who isn't playing: Colin Simmons, reportedly out, and 55% of the Longhorns' sacks with him. That's the wrong line. Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers says the player who decides Saturday is Kewan Lacy, who ran for 122 yards on 16 carries against Missouri in a 257-yard rushing day, "as much of a difference maker as Trinidad." Bill's real worry isn't the Texas defense. It's a wounded Texas team. Three days to Texas. Ten to Auburn. Steven Willis brings in Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers to break down the trip to Austin: Kewan Lacy as the difference maker, Bill's worry about the Texas quarterback, how Caleb Cunningham is coming along, and why a wounded Texas team is the most dangerous kind. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Bill Flowers joins for Texas week 1:56 Ole Miss in Austin for the first time since 2013 2:32 Bill's biggest worry: the Texas quarterback 3:43 Can the Ole Miss defense stay consistent? 5:13 Kewan Lacy: "as much of a difference maker as Trinidad" 6:37 Bill wanted to play at Texas. Texas never called. 7:39 Kewan Lacy in Austin: a chip on his shoulder? 14:03 Every SEC team is similar, except the quarterback 14:45 "A wounded dog": why this Texas team is dangerous 16:10 Caleb Cunningham, through a former receiver's eyes 21:41 Start fast, before Texas gets confident 22:23 Without Simmons, Texas is a normal defense 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Bill Flowers' case for Saturday doesn't start with Trinidad Chambliss. It starts with Kewan Lacy: "He is as much of a difference maker, in my opinion, as Trinidad is in regards to how that offense flows." Lacy ran for 122 yards on 16 carries against Missouri, and Ole Miss ran for 257 as a team. The Texas native gets Austin. 2. "The most dangerous animal in the forest is a wounded animal." Bill's worry isn't a Texas defense reportedly without Colin Simmons. It's a team that was No. 1 eleven days ago, now sits at No. 19, and is playing to save its season, with a quarterback whose back is against the wall. Steven's answer: start fast, before Texas gets confident. 3. Without Simmons, Ole Miss can treat Texas like a normal defense: no chipping with backs, no extra tight ends kept in to block. Per the Texas game notes, Simmons has 10.5 of Texas's 19 sacks; Chambliss has been sacked five times in six games. Steven: "Ask Tennessee what happens when you treat Colin Simmons like a normal dude." 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — Download Kalshi and use code LOCKEDON to get $25 when you trade $25. 18+ only. Colin Simmons has 55% of Texas's sacks. Trinidad Chambliss has been sacked five times all season. If the reports are right and Simmons misses Saturday, that's the biggest gift on the board for Ole Miss. But don't let the No. 19 next to Texas fool you: this team was No. 1 in the country 11 days ago. Three days to Texas. Ten to Auburn. Steven Willis goes through the Texas game notes on Colin Simmons vs. the rest of the Longhorns' defense, explains why Will Echoles is so hard to block (with Patrick Kutas and Makhi Frazier from Tuesday), and makes the case that this is still an over-talented Texas team. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Colin Simmons has 55% of Texas's sacks 2:16 The numbers, straight from the Texas game notes 3:29 Take out Tennessee: four sacks in five games 3:52 Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida: two sacks from everyone else 4:27 Chambliss: sacked five times in six games 6:15 Without Simmons: about 1.5 sacks a game 6:30 Patrick Kutas: "a really talented defense" 8:16 A different game plan without Simmons 13:43 Patrick Kutas on Will Echoles: "all maxed out" 14:14 The get-off 14:33 Who he sees: Sikorski, Robertson and Baker 14:52 The box score vs. the tape 15:50 The defense goes where Echoles goes 16:28 Texas: 17 sacks allowed, 8 of 36 on third down 17:29 Why there's no weakness to attack 21:03 No. 1 eleven days ago 21:21 The talent: 11 preseason All-SEC, 34 draft picks 22:14 The résumé: beat No. 1 Ohio State 23:06 What broke: third down 23:49 Zero takeaways in three games 24:27 The second-youngest team in the Power Four 25:09 Don't look at the 19 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Per the Texas game notes, Simmons has 10.5 of Texas's 19 sacks. Take out the 10-sack Tennessee game and the rest of the defense has four sacks in five games. Simmons is reportedly out (Yahoo Sports, Orangebloods); Texas hasn't confirmed it. Chambliss has been sacked five times in six games. 2. Patrick Kutas on Will Echoles: "He is a very large human that moves very fast, and he is very strong, and he's very smart." PFF grades Echoles as the best player on the Ole Miss defense. In its last three games, Texas converted 8 of 36 third downs. 3. Texas put 11 players on the preseason Coaches All-SEC team, beat No. 1 Ohio State and spent four weeks at No. 1. It lost to Oklahoma and Florida by a combined six points and has no takeaways in its last three games. Third downs and turnovers flip fast. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — Download Kalshi and use code LOCKEDON to get $25 when you trade $25. 18+ only. Everybody is saying Texas is falling apart. That's the wrong read. Pete Golding said Arch Manning "should be the top pick in the draft," called Steve Sarkisian "one of the best play callers in the country," and blamed two 27-24 losses on "bad luck." The real break for Ole Miss is Colin Simmons, whose 10.5 sacks lead the FBS, reportedly missing Saturday. Four days to Texas. Eleven to Auburn. Steven Willis breaks down what a Texas defense without Colin Simmons means against the best pass protection in the SEC, then goes through Pete Golding's Monday press conference twice: what he said about Sarkisian and Manning, and the warning he gave his own team about "false confidence" after 31-3. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Colin Simmons reportedly out: the biggest break of the season 1:20 The report: a high ankle sprain, three to four weeks 2:13 Who Texas loses: 10.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss 3:05 Against the SEC's best pass protection 4:05 Hollywood Smothers questionable, and the Texas QB question 5:46 Can Ole Miss start fast in Austin? 9:29 Landon Barnes, Colin Simmons' heir at Duncanville 13:35 Golding on Arch Manning: "the top pick in the draft" 14:17 Golding on Sarkisian: "one of the best play callers" 15:39 How Texas wants to beat Ole Miss 17:52 The most talented matchup of the season? 22:13 Golding's warning: "false confidence" 24:05 "It wasn't a new call": the simpler defense, explained 24:46 Lucas Carneiro's foot and Peter McStravick 25:29 Kewan Lacy's homecoming 26:12 Ferrelli, Butler and Purchase 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Yahoo Sports reports Colin Simmons is out multiple weeks with a high ankle sprain; Orangebloods says three to four. Texas hasn't confirmed it. Simmons leads the FBS with 10.5 sacks and 16 tackles for loss, and Golding said Texas is built to "create a lot of pressure with 4." Ole Miss leads the SEC in fewest sacks allowed at 0.83 a game. 2. Golding on Manning: "The conception of that he's not an elite player right now is crazy to me." On the two losses: "a lot of it to me has been bad luck." And the reminder: "Somehow it's been lost that they've beat the number 1 team in the country." Texas beat Ohio State 24-23 in September. 3. Golding on his own team after 31-3: "Sometimes there's a false confidence that's created based on outcomes." He said the defense change "wasn't a new call," that Lucas Carneiro's foot was "an issue that we really didn't realize going into Florida," and that Kewan Lacy's week won't change. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🔧 SUPPLYHOUSE — Become a Trade Master at https://supplyhouse.com/TM and use promo code SH5COLLEGE for 5% off your first order. Everyone in Austin is talking about Colin Simmons, the FBS sack leader, reportedly missing Saturday. That's the wrong storyline. Ole Miss has scored on all 24 of its red zone trips this season, 21 of them touchdowns, and leads the SEC in fewest sacks allowed at 0.83 a game. Ole Miss built its edge before anybody in Austin got hurt. Five days to Texas. Twelve to Auburn. Steven Willis brings in Ole Miss legend John Fourcade, the quarterback Trinidad Chambliss just passed on the school's career passing list, to ask whether John David Baker's offense is better than its numbers say. Then they size up a Texas team with Colin Simmons reportedly sidelined and Arch Manning under pressure, and go through the SEC Week 8 slate. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3, and a Texas team without Colin Simmons? 2:13 A C-plus day for Chambliss and a 28-point win anyway 4:56 Who stood out: Will Echoles, "That kid's a beast" 7:43 Is the Baker offense better than its numbers? 13:55 Fourcade on facing a Texas team without Colin Simmons 15:52 Landon Barnes, Colin Simmons' heir at Duncanville 16:17 Arch Manning and Sarkisian's Monday press conference 21:46 SEC Week 8 lines: LSU at Auburn 22:31 Tennessee at South Carolina 23:37 Oklahoma at Mississippi State and a 45.5 total 24:59 Ole Miss at Texas: Fourcade's pick 26:16 Kentucky at 6-1 and the best three teams in the SEC 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Chambliss passed a legend, and the legend laughed. Trinidad Chambliss is now eighth in Ole Miss career passing yards, moving past John Fourcade against Missouri. Fourcade's take: "If I'd have played in that offense for 4 years, I'd have done everything possible." Then the part that matters: "I don't think he's all about the stats and he's about winning." 2. Fourcade thinks the Baker offense is better than its numbers. Ole Miss is 24 for 24 in the red zone, one of two perfect teams in the country, and 21 of those trips ended in touchdowns. His reason: "when they get in the red zone, they're calling their red zone plays." Against Missouri, he said, the Rebels "went for the jugular early." 3. Texas is 4-2 after back-to-back 27-24 losses, and Orangebloods reports Colin Simmons, who leads the FBS with 9.5 sacks, will miss three to four weeks with a high ankle sprain. FanDuel had Texas -3.5 with a 55.5 total as of Sunday morning, Oct. 18. Fourcade's pick, and his alone: "I got the Rebels winning this game." 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. Everybody wants to know where Ole Miss lands in the polls after 31-3. That's the wrong question. Missouri ran for 39 yards, Ole Miss won by 28 on a day Trinidad Chambliss went 20 of 36, and FanDuel still has the Rebels as a 3.5-point underdog at a Texas team that has lost two straight. The market sees a good team, not a great one. Five days to Texas. Twelve to Auburn. Steven Willis breaks down the three things we learned from Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3, then answers the question Saturday's chaos created: with five of the top seven teams losing on the same day, would it surprise anyone if Ole Miss won everything? Then the SEC Week 8 lines, and what Austin decides about January. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Missouri ran for 39 yards. Will Ole Miss lose again? 1:39 Lesson 1: Golding's defense held Missouri to 39 rushing yards 3:40 Lesson 2: Kewan Lacy and Makhi Frazier, two 100-yard backs 5:09 Lesson 3: a 28-point win on Trinidad Chambliss's off day 8:21 Don't peak in September: why the next 21 days decide it 14:57 Could Ole Miss win it all? No unbeaten team left in the SEC 15:31 13-2 last year, and Pete Golding against ranked teams 16:11 The path: Texas, Auburn and Georgia in 21 days 18:09 The honest part: Austin, the road and the third quarter 19:50 Is Ole Miss in position to win every single thing? 22:49 Ole Miss at Texas: what FanDuel's line says about the Rebels 24:49 The rest of the SEC Week 8 lines 26:31 The three SEC games that matter to Ole Miss 27:00 What it means: a January game in Oxford or on an airplane 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Pete Golding's defense held No. 13 Missouri to 39 rushing yards (29 in the first half) and three points, the second time in a decade Ole Miss has held an SEC opponent to three or fewer. Will Echoles had a sack and two pass breakups, Luke Ferrelli had a career-best 1.5 tackles for loss, and Landon Barnes picked off a pass in the red zone. 2. Two 100-yard backs for the first time since Arkansas in 2022. Kewan Lacy ran for 122 yards and Makhi Frazier for a career-high 101, and Ole Miss ran for 257 at 6.7 a carry against a defense that came in allowing 78.3 a game. Ole Miss scored on all five red zone trips. 3. Chambliss went 20 of 36 and said himself "the accuracy wasn't there," then threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth. His 19th straight game with a TD pass ties Matt Corral for second in school history. On FanDuel as of Sunday morning, Oct. 18, Texas is a 3.5-point favorite with a total of 55.5. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. Ole Miss didn't just beat Missouri. It embarrassed a ranked team in Oxford: 31-3, 257 rushing yards to 39, and no Missouri touchdowns. Then five of the top seven teams in the country lost on the same Saturday. So here's the question for Sunday: is Ole Miss a top 5 team? Final: Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3. Ole Miss is 5-1, 3-1 SEC. Next: at Texas, Saturday, Oct. 24, 6:30 PM CT on ABC. Steven Willis is live with the Sunday Reaction: the case for Ole Miss in the top 5, the case against, and two full segments built on YOUR comments. Drop yours in the chat and it might make the show. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 [FILL FROM THE STREAM VOD AFTER IT ENDS] 📌 THREE THINGS Pete Golding's defense owned the line of scrimmage. Missouri came in averaging 35.8 points a game and left with three, held to 39 rushing yards. Luke Ferrelli had a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss, Will Echoles added a sack and two pass breakups, and Landon Barnes picked off a pass in the red zone. Two 100-yard backs for the first time since 2022. Kewan Lacy ran for 122 yards and Makhi Frazier added a career-high 101. Trinidad Chambliss threw three touchdown passes and ran for another, and his 19th straight game with a touchdown pass ties Matt Corral for second in program history. The top 5 case. Georgia, Notre Dame, Indiana, Alabama and Texas all lost Saturday. Ole Miss has wins over LSU, Louisville and Missouri. The case against is the 52-28 loss at Florida. The answer gets written over the next three weeks: at Texas, then Auburn and Georgia in Oxford. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: / discord 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=... Ole Miss didn't just beat Missouri. It ended the argument. A top-15 team with a former Ole Miss quarterback and a week of revenge talk walked into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and scored three points. Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3, and right now there's no team in the SEC playing better football. Final: Ole Miss 31, Missouri 3. Next Saturday: at Texas. Steven Willis goes live with the instant reaction: how Pete Golding's defense shut down Missouri, Trinidad Chambliss on Homecoming, why Ole Miss is the best team in the SEC, and what Austin looks like now that Texas has lost two straight. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 [FILL FROM THE STREAM VOD AFTER IT ENDS] 📌 THREE THINGS Missouri came in averaging 35.8 points a game and left with three. Pete Golding's defense, the one that gave up 52 at Florida three weeks ago, has now allowed 20 points in two SEC games, and Austin Simmons never found the end zone in his return to Oxford. The case for the best team in the SEC. Wins over LSU and No. 13 Missouri, a 35-point win at Vanderbilt, and one loss, to a Florida team that has since beaten Missouri and won at Texas. Georgia is the counterargument, and it comes to Oxford on Nov. 7. Next: at Texas. The Longhorns have lost two straight, and a second loss would put Ole Miss back on the edge of the 12-team race. A win in Austin, with Auburn and Georgia coming to Oxford, puts the SEC in Ole Miss's hands. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — the postgame thread is open, free to join: / discord 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=... The 24-team playoff isn't the story today. A second loss is. Ole Miss and Missouri walk into Vaught-Hemingway Stadium one loss apiece, and under this year's 12-team format whoever leaves with two still has Georgia on the schedule. Next year's playoff rewards teams that win days like this one. This year's playoff might not forgive losing it. Today: Missouri at Ole Miss, the 99th Homecoming. Kickoff 3:30 PM ET / 2:30 PM CT on SEC Network. Next week: Texas. Steven Willis goes live with Mike Huesmann for the last word before kickoff: the injury report, the final availability report live when it drops at 2:00 ET, what the coming 24-team playoff means for Ole Miss, the keys to beating Missouri, and a final score from everyone, including you in the chat. 📌 THREE THINGS The 24-team playoff is close, but not today. The AP reported Friday that the College Football Playoff and ESPN have a handshake agreement on a framework to expand to 24 teams starting next season, with first-round byes for the top eight and the first two rounds on campus. The contract isn't finished, and this year is still 12 teams. Ole Miss plays without Edwin Joseph. Friday's SEC availability report lists the safety out, with MJ Preston questionable. Missouri is without running back Ahmad Hardy, but Austin Simmons is off the report and Cayden Lee is probable. The final report drops at 2:00 PM ET, during this stream. Throw first, lead early. Missouri allows 78.3 rushing yards a game. Ole Miss throws for 300.6, has outscored opponents 109-33 in the first half, and has won 14 straight in Oxford. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — the game thread is open, free to join: / discord 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=... Most game-day previews treat Ole Miss-Missouri as the only game that matters today. That's the wrong line. The SEC slate around it shapes Ole Miss's playoff path, including Texas-Florida with Ole Miss's next opponent. In Oxford, Ole Miss has won 14 straight at home and is 38-3 there since 2021, per the Ole Miss game notes, and Missouri gave up 31 points in its last road game, at Mississippi State. Today, Missouri. Seven days to Texas. Steven Willis brings in Locked On Bets to handicap the biggest games of the day: Mississippi State-LSU, Texas-Florida, Kentucky at Oklahoma, Alabama at Tennessee and Ole Miss vs. Missouri, plus one game outside the SEC. Every pick in this episode is Locked On Bets', not the show's. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Game day: the SEC's biggest games with Locked On Bets 1:33 Mississippi State vs. LSU and Kamario Taylor 3:38 Texas vs. Florida: Ole Miss's next opponent 10:03 Kentucky at Oklahoma after two overtime wins 11:18 The Third Saturday in October: Alabama at Tennessee 15:58 Ole Miss vs. Missouri: the Locked On Bets pick 17:58 Outside the SEC: Florida State at Miami 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The Ole Miss call. Locked On Bets is taking Ole Miss against Missouri, pointing to the 52-point bounce-back at Vanderbilt, Kewan Lacy's second game back, and a Missouri defense that gave up 31 at Mississippi State in its last road game. It also says Missouri hasn't played in an atmosphere like Oxford all season. Ole Miss has won 14 straight at home, per the Ole Miss game notes. 2. Texas-Florida matters for next week. Ole Miss goes to Austin in seven days, and Locked On Bets is taking Florida with the points, calling it a bad revenge spot for Texas. Steven's read on the Longhorns: they have "a low-key bad offense problem at the moment," so "whoever they're playing against is probably going to be in the game." 3. The rest of the slate, all Locked On Bets' calls: LSU over Mississippi State whether or not Kamario Taylor plays; Kentucky with the points at Oklahoma, riding Kentucky's momentum; Alabama on the road at Tennessee; and Florida State to stay within the number at Miami. Steven's aside: Ole Miss-Missouri "should be the ABC game." 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. Every take on a 24-team College Football Playoff says it kills the regular season. That's the wrong line. The CFP is nearing a deal to double to 24 teams in 2027, per ESPN's reporting, with five automatic bids, 19 at-large spots and the first two rounds on campus. For fans who watched bowl season die, Steven Willis says it's "the first time in a very long time that the fans got something," and for Ole Miss it makes the playoff the floor, not the goal. Tomorrow, Missouri. Eight days to Texas. Steven Willis and the mayor of Corinth, Tom Vanderford, break down why a 24-team playoff is good for fans and for Ole Miss, how the SEC's nine-game schedule forced the issue, and what decides Saturday against Missouri: the Ole Miss defense against Jamal Roberts. Then Tom gives his final score. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The College Football Playoff is close to 24 teams 1:44 Why a 24-team playoff is good for the fans 2:26 Ole Miss should be a playoff team every year 4:53 How the SEC's nine-game schedule forced this 5:54 There's nothing like a home playoff game 10:30 Missouri hinges on the defense vs. Jamal Roberts 11:02 Simmons, Cayden Lee and a must-win game 13:27 Tom Vanderford's final score 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Steven's verdict: "This is the first time in a very long time that the fans got something." 2. It raises the bar in Oxford. "Ole Miss should be a playoff team each and every single year. If they don't, it's an abject failure," Steven says. Tom Vanderford's case for the SEC: the league grind is tough every week, while a Big Ten team gets "2 hard games every year." And anyone who was in Oxford for last December's home playoff game knows what the campus rounds mean. 3. Missouri comes down to one matchup. Tom: "In my opinion, the game hinges on our defense versus their run game." Jamal Roberts has back-to-back 200-yard games against Florida and Texas A&M, per the Ole Miss game notes. Tom calls it "a must-win game for Ole Miss" and expects a win at Texas next if Ole Miss gets through it healthy. Most of Missouri week has been about three former Rebels coming home. That's the wrong line. Ole Miss legend Todd Wade, who played on the offensive line, calls this "the game of the year for Ole Miss," and says it gets decided up front: Ole Miss allows one sack a game, best in the SEC, against a Missouri defense with 15 sacks, per the Ole Miss game notes. Tomorrow, Missouri. Eight days to Texas. Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Todd Wade break down how Ole Miss fixed itself against Vanderbilt, the 1999 team and its close losses, why Ole Miss's pass protection is the matchup to watch, and how to speed up Austin Simmons. Then Todd gives his final score for Missouri. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Todd Wade on Vanderbilt and Missouri week 2:22 Striking blocks: the aggression that set the tone 3:27 The 1999 Auburn game and what came next 7:17 Todd Wade's 1999 Rebels and the close losses 13:11 "This is the game of the year for Ole Miss" 14:33 Ole Miss pass protection vs. Missouri's rush 16:16 Speed up Austin Simmons, or he carves you up 17:22 Hit that face, get the space: RPOs on early downs 21:49 Win first and second down against Jamal Roberts 22:44 Todd Wade's final score 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Todd Wade doesn't hedge: "I hope everyone knows that this is the game of the year for Ole Miss because if we don't win this game, there's a great chance we don't go to the playoffs." The edge is Oxford. Ole Miss has won 14 straight at home, per the game notes, and Wade says the crowd keeps "creating issues for the offensive line, quarterbacks, and all the communication up front." 2. The trenches decide it. Ole Miss allows one sack a game, best in the SEC; Missouri has 15 sacks. Wade on the line he knows best: "One of our strengths of our offensive line" is pass protection. On defense, Austin Simmons has 14 TD passes and one interception, and Wade's answer is pressure: "We can't sit there and let him throw the ball." 3. Wade expects Ole Miss to "come out hot" and Trinidad Chambliss to have a big day: "I'm grading Trinidad here. He's almost perfect." What scares him is Missouri's balance, running and throwing. Steven's line: if the game gets into the 30s, that's advantage Ole Miss. Every Missouri preview says Ole Miss has to run the ball to win Saturday. That's the wrong line. Missouri allows 78.3 rushing yards a game and 2.4 a carry, per the Ole Miss game notes, so nobody runs on Missouri first. Trinidad Chambliss throws for 287 yards a game, Ole Miss has outscored opponents 109-33 in first halves, and an early lead is the one thing that takes Jamal Roberts out of the game. Tomorrow, Missouri. Eight days to Texas. Steven Willis makes the case for why Ole Miss beats No. 13 Missouri: three reasons, the keys to the game, and the players to watch in Trinidad Chambliss, Kewan Lacy and Blake Purchase. Then the betting lines, why this series history is the strangest in the SEC, and Steven's final score. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Nobody runs on Missouri. Here's why Ole Miss wins 2:23 Reason 1: the RPO game vs. Missouri's linebackers 3:33 Reason 2: Ole Miss passes to run with Trinidad Chambliss 4:42 Reason 3: an early lead takes Jamal Roberts away 6:14 Throw first, lead early, and the SEC Network snub 13:14 Key: win first and second down, no third-and-2 14:53 Players to watch: Chambliss, Lacy and Purchase 17:40 Missouri's identity: the running back assembly line 18:54 The strangest series history in the SEC 22:06 What the betting number leaves out 23:34 Bill Flowers vs. Locked On Mizzou: two final scores 24:04 Steven's final score 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Ole Miss passes to run. Opponents have run 193 times against Missouri for 470 yards and thrown it 203 times. Ole Miss throws for 300.6 yards a game, 15th in FBS, and allows one sack a game, best in the SEC. The RPO game with Caleb Odom goes right behind Missouri linebackers who, per Locked On Mizzou, "come downhill in the running game really hard." 2. Win first and second down. Missouri runs for 181.7 yards a game behind Jamal Roberts. "If Missouri sits at 3rd and 2 all afternoon, Jamal Roberts just kind of eats. Make it 3rd and 8, and now Austin Simmons has to throw into Pete Golding's disguises." And Ole Miss can't repeat the 11 penalties it had at Vanderbilt. 3. The players to watch are chasing history. Chambliss has a touchdown pass in 18 straight games, one shy of Matt Corral, and is 40 yards from passing John Fourcade, "a major friend of this program." Kewan Lacy has a rushing touchdown in 13 straight games played, the longest by a Rebel since records began in 1956. Blake Purchase leads the team with 3.5 sacks and 6.5 TFL. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. Missouri week got stuck in a 2:30 p.m. SEC Network window, and most of the talk has been about who knows whose playbook. That's the wrong line. Locked On Mizzou says Missouri's real problem is Trinidad Chambliss, whom it ranks among the top two quarterbacks in the country, and its plan is to make Ole Miss one-dimensional by holding Kewan Lacy to 50 rushing yards or fewer. Ole Miss has scored touchdowns on 18 of 20 red zone trips, per the Ole Miss game notes, so settling for field goals is not something this offense does. Two days to Missouri. Nine to Texas. Steven Willis and Locked On Mizzou take both sides of Saturday: why this isn't a revenge game, how Pete Golding's defense can speed up Austin Simmons, the Missouri pass rush and linebackers Ole Miss has to beat, and why Missouri keeps finding running backs. Then the question both sides agree on: whoever loses Saturday may be out of the playoff race. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss vs. Mizzou, stuck in a 2:30 SEC Network window 3:25 "This is a playoff elimination game" 4:34 Austin Simmons vs. Pete Golding: who has the edge? 7:19 How Ole Miss speeds up Austin Simmons 8:26 Mizzou's worry: Trinidad Chambliss 12:52 Caleb Odom, Caleb Cunningham and the Ole Miss X-factors 14:59 Echoles, Purchase and Perkins: turn them loose? 16:21 Can Ole Miss tackle Jamal Roberts? 17:49 How Missouri keeps finding running backs 22:52 Locked On Mizzou's final score 📌 THREE THINGS 1. It's not a revenge game, but the stakes are real. Steven says Austin Simmons, Cayden Lee and Chris Graves Jr. left with "the professionalism that they showed," and "this isn't LSU." Locked On Mizzou agrees the hard feelings mostly live online. The real stakes: whoever leaves Oxford with a second loss still has Georgia ahead, which is why Steven calls it "a playoff elimination game." 2. Simmons has 14 TD passes and one interception, per the Ole Miss game notes, and Locked On Mizzou says he has fixed last year's weakside safety blind spot. Steven's plan is to "speed Austin up" with pressure at the mesh point and lost-yardage plays that create third-and-long. What won't work: "You cannot sit back and rush 3, drop 8, and just let him pick out holes in the zone." 3. Locked On Mizzou calls Chambliss "1 or 1A, 1B" among the best quarterbacks in the country. It expects Missouri to give up 300 passing yards but hold Kewan Lacy to 50 or fewer, and calls it Missouri 28, Ole Miss 24. Steven's counter is the red zone: 18 touchdowns on 20 trips, plus a kicker in range once Ole Miss crosses the 40. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. The Missouri week question everyone keeps asking is whether three former Rebels know too much about Ole Miss. That's the wrong line. Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers says Saturday comes down to whether Pete Golding's defense can get Austin Simmons off his spot, and Simmons has 14 touchdown passes against one interception this season, per the Ole Miss game notes. Ole Miss forced four takeaways at Vanderbilt after only two in its first four games, and that is the defense Bill says has to show up again. Three days to Missouri. Ten to Texas. Steven Willis brings in Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers to break down the 52-17 rout at Vanderbilt, why the offense finally looked like the one Ole Miss was promised, whether Blake Purchase is the transfer buy of the offseason, and what Ole Miss has to do to Austin Simmons on Saturday. Bill ends with his final score. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Bill Flowers on the Vanderbilt rout and Missouri week 1:28 Why the Ole Miss defense finally played angry 3:56 "It was the offense that we were promised" 7:08 Blake Purchase: the transfer buy of the offseason? 11:06 Bill's key vs. Missouri: pressure Austin Simmons 14:57 Can the first-half Vanderbilt team show up every week? 22:44 Bill Flowers' final score: Ole Miss 42, Missouri 28 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Ole Miss finally played like the team it was built to be. It was 42-3 at the half at Vanderbilt and 52-17 at the end, against a program Bill says "has always given us a tough time." Steven's read: Ole Miss passed to set up the run and skipped the first-quarter lull. Bill's: "having Lacy is a game changer." And if the first-half team shows up every week, Steven says, "Ole Miss doesn't lose a game." 2. Blake Purchase leads Ole Miss with 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss, per the Ole Miss game notes, and Steven says "nobody's even talking his name." His case: Purchase "might be the transfer portal buy of the offseason for Ole Miss." Bill calls it plug and play, a player without a high-profile name who "just absolutely increases the value of your defense." 3. Bill's key Saturday is pressure on Austin Simmons: "If you let him sit back, he'll pick you apart." Simmons has 14 TD passes and one interception, and Cayden Lee (42 catches, 616 yards) is the target Bill calls Simmons' "pacifier." Bill expects a boxing match with body blows on both sides and calls it Ole Miss 42, Missouri 28. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — Download Kalshi and use code LOCKEDON to get $25 when you trade $25. Every Missouri week story has been about three former Rebels coming home. That's the wrong line. Eli Drinkwitz said his real edge is Pete Golding's own defense ("we kind of know what they do"), while Ole Miss players say a team that just scored 52 still hasn't played a full game, with zero points in the third quarter at Vanderbilt. And the leading pass rusher on Golding's defense was the 43rd edge rusher in the portal, per On3. Three days to Missouri. Ten to Texas. Steven Willis takes you inside both sidelines of Missouri week: Deuce Alexander, Antonio Kite and Connor Howes on the full game Ole Miss still hasn't played, why stopping the run early is the key Saturday, Eli Drinkwitz's claim that Missouri knows Golding's defense from the inside, and why Blake Purchase is quietly having a monster year. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Drinkwitz vs. the Rebels: somebody is wrong Saturday 1:13 Deuce: "We still haven't put a full game together" 3:41 Antonio Kite, Chris Graves and the trash talk 4:48 Connor Howes and the right tackle battle 6:30 The keys Saturday: stop the run, win on the outside 14:16 Drinkwitz: "We kind of know what they do" 24:33 Howes: "Our D-ends are some of the best in the country" 26:46 Best transfer on the defense: Purchase or Ferrelli? 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Ole Miss took a quarter off and still won by 35. Deuce Alexander: "We still haven't put a full game together." It was 42-3 at the half at Vanderbilt and 0 in the third quarter. Steven's key for Saturday: stop the run early so Missouri can't turn it into a time-of-possession game like Florida did. 2. Drinkwitz thinks the inside knowledge runs his way. "We don't run anything like what they ran," he said, but "we kind of know what they do," because Chris Graves Jr. can tell Missouri the Ole Miss base defense. Golding's plan is making "the same things look different and different things look the same." 3. Blake Purchase leads Ole Miss with 3.5 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss. Per On3, he had 3.5 sacks in three years at Oregon; he has matched that in five games. Connor Howes, who blocks him every day: "I honestly think our D-ends are some of the best in the country." 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with the all-new FanDuel Rewards Club. Most coaches spend the Monday after a 52-17 win taking a victory lap on four takeaways. That's the wrong read on Pete Golding's press conference. He downgraded his own turnovers ("we're a step late right now"), named three former Rebels on Missouri's roster, and said two of them left because an appeal had not been decided. Now No. 13 Missouri brings a back who just ran for 222 yards to Oxford. Four days to Missouri. Eleven to Texas. Steven Willis goes through Pete Golding's Missouri week press conference one "He Said What?" moment at a time: why Austin Simmons and Cayden Lee left, why Golding isn't satisfied with four takeaways, and the offensive line that won player of the game as a unit for the first time this season. Plus why Ole Miss and Missouri is the SEC game of the week, and the one thing Ole Miss cannot do on Saturday. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 He Said What? Golding on Missouri's former Rebels 1:20 "We're trying to whoop Chris's..." 2:31 Why Austin Simmons and Cayden Lee really left 6:51 Golding's plan to fool a QB who knows his defense 9:05 Why Ole Miss-Missouri is the SEC game of the week 12:30 "We're a step late": Golding downgrades 4 takeaways 13:29 The Missouri back Golding is worried about 14:50 What fixed the defense at Vanderbilt 16:54 Ole Miss can't beat itself against Missouri 24:25 Shekai Mills-Knight is about to get more touches 24:53 Lacy, Frazier, Lindsey and an Edwin Joseph update 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Ole Miss lost two starters to an undecided appeal. Golding on Austin Simmons: "You play quarterback, we play one of them... He couldn't take that risk." Cayden Lee had the same worry. Now both are at Missouri with Chris Graves Jr., and Golding says Lee knows what Ole Miss does on defense. 2. Four takeaways were not enough for Golding. "We're dropping those right there. We're a step late right now based on the eyes." Ole Miss missed six tackles at Vanderbilt after three straight games at 14, per PFF, and Missouri's Jamal Roberts just ran for 222 yards on 34 carries. 3. This is the game Ole Miss cannot give away. Steven thinks Ole Miss is the better team, but "this Missouri team can punish you and they will punish you." The offensive line was player of the game as a unit for the first time this season, and Golding called Terez Davis "elite." 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 📈 KALSHI — Download Kalshi and use code LOCKEDON to get $25 when you trade $25. Everybody's going to look at Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17 and say Vanderbilt won the second half. That's the wrong read. It was 42-3 at halftime, Vanderbilt ran for 103 yards two weeks after Florida ran for 302, and both lines of scrimmage were a mauling by the middle of the first quarter. Ole Miss legend John Fourcade says the real test is Saturday, against a Missouri back who just ran for 222 yards. Five days to Missouri. Twelve to Texas. Steven Willis brings in Ole Miss legend John Fourcade to break down the Vanderbilt rout: why it was exactly what this fan base needed, what Missouri's run game means for Saturday, how John David Baker's offense is finishing in the red zone, and the big-man touchdown Fourcade says Jamarious Brown will live with forever. Then the two go around the SEC Week 7 board, and Fourcade names the game on the schedule that scares him. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss legend John Fourcade joins the show 1:38 Fourcade on 42-3 at the half 2:31 Why Ole Miss fans needed that game 3:17 Ole Miss has to stop Missouri's run game 4:30 Missouri in Oxford and a 2:30 CT kickoff 6:24 The road ahead: Austin, Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma 12:26 John David Baker's offense in the red zone 14:04 Jamarious Brown's big-man touchdown 17:07 What changed on the Ole Miss defense 18:20 Jamal Roberts and Missouri's outside zone 23:35 SEC Week 7 lines with the legend 25:05 Alabama-Tennessee, Auburn-Georgia, Florida-Texas 26:14 Fourcade heads to Oxford for Missouri 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Vanderbilt could not run the ball, and that is the whole story. Steven calls both lines of scrimmage "an absolute mauling," and the numbers agree: 42-3 at halftime, and Vanderbilt held to 103 rushing yards two weeks after Florida ran for 302. If you can't run on this Ole Miss team, you can't do anything else. 2. Missouri is the game that scares Fourcade. The Tigers are 5-1 and No. 13, and Jamal Roberts just ran for 222 yards against Texas A&M. "Ole Miss has to stop the run, we know that," Fourcade says, and he wants Kewan Lacy back at the center of Ole Miss's own run game. Kickoff is 2:30 CT in Oxford. 3. The defense is finally finishing plays. Fourcade says Pete Golding's whole question is whether players are in position and making tackles: "Our defense has to be in the right spot, make the play and make the tackle." Ole Miss missed six tackles at Vanderbilt after three straight games at 14, per PFF. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC ⚡ 5-HOUR ENERGY — Bring on the sweetness with Cotton Candy 5-Hour Energy shots, zero sugar. Every take on Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17 has been about the scoreboard. That's the wrong number. Ole Miss missed 14 tackles in three straight games and six at Vanderbilt, and a pass rush that produced six pressures at Florida produced 19 with three sacks in Nashville. Pete Golding says there was not one new call in the game plan. Five days to Missouri. Twelve to Texas. Steven Willis breaks down what the Vanderbilt win taught us: why Ole Miss is a different team when it is aggressive on both sides of the ball, how Blake Purchase and Suntarine Perkins took over the game, and why this offense works when the pass sets up the run. Then the case that this team is exactly what we thought it was in August, and why the Florida loss may have been worth it. Plus every SEC Week 7 line on FanDuel and what the board says about Ole Miss's path to a December game in Oxford. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss didn't add a new call. The defense got aggressive and the numbers followed. Ole Miss forced four turnovers, had 19 pressures and three sacks, and missed six tackles after three straight games at 14. Vanderbilt ran for 103 yards two weeks after Florida ran for 302. 2. Purchase and Perkins changed the game. Blake Purchase had two sacks, three tackles for loss and the forced fumble that Suntarine Perkins returned five yards for the first touchdown of his career, turning 28-3 into 35-3. 3. The market respects Ole Miss but not blindly. FanDuel has Ole Miss -6.5 against Missouri with a 59.5 total as of Sunday morning. The easy take is that 52-17 settles it. It doesn't. Ole Miss led Vanderbilt 42-3 at halftime, then lost the second half 14-10, and Vandy ran for 72 of its 103 yards after the break. The first half proved the defense can fix Gainesville. The second half is the question Missouri will ask on Saturday in Oxford. Final: Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17. Ole Miss is 4-1, 2-1 SEC. Next: Missouri in Oxford, Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET. Steven Willis is live with the Sunday reaction: the grades from Nashville, two full segments built on YOUR comments, and the first look at Missouri week after a wild Saturday across the SEC. Drop your comment in the chat and it might make the show. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 [FILL FROM THE STREAM VOD AFTER IT ENDS] 📌 THREE THINGS The first half was the answer to Gainesville. Before halftime, Ole Miss forced three turnovers, had three sacks and held Vanderbilt to 31 rushing yards. Blake Purchase had two sacks, and Suntarine Perkins scooped a fumble for a touchdown. The offense spread it around. Trinidad Chambliss went 20 of 30 for 213 yards with three touchdown passes and ran for another. Deuce Alexander caught five passes for 74 yards and a score, and Makhi Frazier led the backs with 73 yards. Now it's Missouri. The Tigers are 5-1 after a 27-6 win over Texas A&M, and Jamal Roberts ran for 222 yards in it. Everyone will say Vanderbilt was a tune-up. That's the wrong read. Two weeks ago this defense gave up 302 rushing yards and 52 points in Gainesville, and today Ole Miss scored 52 and won by 35 on the road in the SEC. That's not a tune-up. That's a team answering the question it has heard for 14 days, right before No. 14 Missouri and its 222-yard running back come to Oxford. Final: Ole Miss 52, Vanderbilt 17. Next: No. 14 Missouri in Oxford, Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET. Steven Willis goes live minutes after the final whistle with the instant overreaction: what changed on defense, who took over, what it means that every prediction undersold it, and why next Saturday against Missouri just became one of the biggest games of the season. Drop your take in the chat. 📌 THREE THINGS That was the answer to Gainesville. Two weeks after Florida put 52 on Ole Miss, Ole Miss put 52 on Vanderbilt and won by 35. Every prediction we heard this week, from Locked On Vandy's 31-21 to Tom Vanderford's 38-17, undersold it. Ole Miss is 4-1 and 2-1 in the SEC. Missouri is the real test, and it's coming to Oxford. The Tigers are 5-1, No. 14, and just beat Texas A&M 27-6 behind 222 rushing yards from Jamal Roberts. That's the run game this defense has to stop. Kickoff is Saturday at 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET in Vaught-Hemingway. The network is still to be announced. Everyone is watching the radar. That's the wrong worry. Rain doesn't decide football games; a defense that missed 62 tackles for 482 yards does, and today in Nashville is its first chance to answer for Gainesville. The weather that can change this game is the wind, up to 45 mph in gusts under a Wind Advisory, and a lightning delay nobody wants. Today: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Kickoff 3:30 PM ET / 2:30 PM CT on ESPN. Steven Willis goes live with Mike Huesmann and Corey Burton of Locked On Vandy for the last word before kickoff: the storm, Jared Curtis's return, Kewan Lacy's status as the final availability report drops, what each side has to do, and a final score from everyone, including you in the chat. 📌 THREE THINGS The weather is real. Isaias's remnants put Nashville under a Wind Advisory through 8 PM CT and a Flood Watch through Sunday morning, with thunderstorms possible. SEC rules suspend play for lightning within eight miles, and the clock restarts only after 30 minutes without a strike. Rain doesn't decide games. Wind and lightning delays can. Vanderbilt gets its freshman back. Jared Curtis, the five-star who missed Georgia, was off Friday's availability report entirely. Corey Burton of Locked On Vandy says Vandy's offense still has no identity, and Pete Golding has planned for Curtis, Blaze Berlowitz and both at once. Kewan Lacy is still questionable. The final availability report drops 90 minutes before kickoff, during this stream, and Golding has already said Lacy won't take 40 to 50 snaps. The question underneath it all: does the defense that missed 62 tackles for 482 yards show up today? 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — the game thread is open, free to join: / discord 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=... ⚓ LOCKED ON VANDY with Corey Burton — wherever you get podcasts [ADD ONE LINE PER SPONSOR THAT RAN, FROM THE AD SHEET, AFTER THE STREAM] Locked On Ole Miss is part of the Locked On Podcast Network — your team, every day. #OleMiss #HottyToddy #Vanderbilt #AnchorDown #GameDay #SEC FANDUEL DISCLAIMER: 21+ in select states. Two straight weeks, an SEC team has lost the week after its biggest game: Ole Miss at Florida, then Florida at Missouri. So everyone is nervous about Ole Miss in Nashville. That's the wrong spot. Ole Miss is the rested team, coming off a bye, and Vanderbilt has scored 29 points in its last two games. Kevin Rogers of Locked On Bets and Steven Willis both point to LSU at Kentucky as today's letdown game. Today: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, ESPN. Steven Willis and Kevin Rogers of Locked On Bets work the SEC Saturday: Kentucky, Florida, Alabama-Georgia in the storm's path, Red River, and why Ole Miss can't just win at Vanderbilt. It has to dominate. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Game day: letdown spots, Red River and Ole Miss-Vandy 3:45 LSU at Kentucky: homecoming, throwbacks and a blueout 4:58 South Carolina at Florida: can the Gamecocks finish? 5:28 Kevin: a get-right spot for the Gators 11:25 Alabama vs Georgia in the path of the storm 13:49 Does the weather take the crowd out of Bryant-Denny? 14:38 Red River: Texas defense vs a stalled Oklahoma offense 20:04 Ole Miss-Vanderbilt: Kevin sees a bounce-back 21:58 What a loss to Vandy would cost Ole Miss 22:40 Outside the SEC: Indiana-Nebraska and USC-Penn State 24:27 The game-day schedule 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The letdown game is in Lexington. Ole Miss got popped at Florida a week after LSU, and Florida got popped at Missouri a week after Ole Miss. Steven's candidate this week is LSU at Kentucky: homecoming, throwback uniforms, a blueout and Lane Kiffin on the visiting sideline. Kevin agrees, saying Kentucky "keeps showing up and playing well." 2. The storm hits the big games too. Alabama-Georgia could be under the weather system, and Steven cites Mike Leach: wind affects passing more than anything else. In Red River, Steven sees two shaky offenses and a strong Texas defense, which makes for unpredictable football; Kevin still sides with Texas. 3. Ole Miss has to dominate. Steven expects a better defense after a bye-week practice built on one call. Kevin calls Vanderbilt "a must-win and must-dominate circumstance" with Missouri and Texas next, and Vandy has scored 29 points in its last two games. Steven: lose today and the playoff talk is over. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎲 LOCKED ON BETS with Kevin Rogers and Lee Sterling — Monday to Friday, wherever you get podcasts 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. Vanderbilt is starting its five-star freshman, and the easy read is that Jared Curtis makes Saturday harder for Ole Miss. That's the wrong read. Steven Willis says Curtis is the better matchup for Pete Golding, because a defense that gave up 302 rushing yards at Florida has more to fear from Blaze Berlowitz's misdirection option game than from a freshman in the pocket. Tomorrow: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, ESPN. Steven Willis and Michael Katz of the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal on the Curtis start, what the Adidas money buys, a uniform reset, the storm, a 2006 lightning delay Steven watched from the press box, and Katz's call. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Jared Curtis starts, a storm, and the Adidas deal 2:05 "You can't turn down that sort of money" 3:05 The powder blue theory: Adidas wants Ole Miss's UNC color 5:52 A reset button for every uniform but football's 9:17 For Walker Jones next week: who gets the NIL money? 14:26 Curtis starting is the better matchup for Ole Miss 15:57 If Curtis plays poorly, Ole Miss doesn't lose 16:51 Wind gusts are falling. Does the weather matter? 20:29 2006: Wake Forest, a lightning delay, and a scrimmage 24:27 Katz: Vanderbilt will still try to run on Ole Miss 26:45 Katz's call: Ole Miss by 10 to 17 27:35 Five more missed tackles a game, and the want-to 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Curtis is the better draw for Ole Miss. Steven says misdirection option football with Blaze Berlowitz is the bigger problem for a defense that gave up 302 rushing yards at Florida. Michael Katz: show the freshman a lot of looks and get in his head early, because he doesn't see a world where Curtis plays poorly and Ole Miss loses. 2. The Adidas money is a reset. "You can't turn down that sort of money," Katz says. Ten years ago, Ole Miss doesn't get this deal. Football's look can't change, but Steven wants a reset everywhere else, and a powder-blue push the way Nike sold North Carolina. Walker Jones of the Grove Collective joins next week. 3. The call. Steven says forecast gusts dropped from 40-45 mph to 30-35 overnight and should settle at 15-25; Katz calls the weather "a little bit overstated." Katz's Daily Journal numbers: Ole Miss is missing almost five more tackles a game than a year ago. His margin: Ole Miss by 10 to 17. Steven's pick: 38-24. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. Everyone is calling Saturday a trap game. That's the wrong frame. Pete Golding has faced exactly one unranked team as a head coach and beat Charlotte 41-9, and Ole Miss spent its open date hitting people while Vanderbilt came home from a 38-14 beating in Athens. The trap is real only if Ole Miss forgets who its quarterback is. Tomorrow: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, Nashville. Steven Willis lays out the three reasons Ole Miss beats Vanderbilt, the three keys and the players to watch, what Vegas says about the game, and his final score. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss spent two weeks getting angry 3:37 Two weeks angry, two weeks beat up 6:02 Wide receiver depth vs. a team that blitzes eight 8:30 Make a missed tackle go 4 yards, not 40 13:24 The keys: win first down and let the receivers cook 16:28 62 missed tackles, and why direction matters 22:07 What Vegas says, the trap and the final score 24:36 This is not the Vanderbilt you remember 26:35 Time for Johntay Cook to break out 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Ole Miss is the angrier team. After a 52-28 loss at Florida, Pete Golding ran a practice with zero defensive calls, put the whole roster in one room for the Florida tape and went full pads on a Sunday night off a bye. Vanderbilt is 0-2 in the SEC and was outgained 256-59 after halftime in a 38-14 loss at Georgia. 2. Let Chambliss be Chambliss. Against LSU he threw for 363 yards and two touchdowns, his 10th career 300-yard game, tying Eli Manning for the program record. Vanderbilt blitzes "7, 8 on 3rd down," per Terez Davis, and Traylon Ray and Deuce Alexander each caught seven passes with a touchdown against LSU. 3. FanDuel had Ole Miss -10.5 with a -365 moneyline and a 59.5 total on Wednesday morning, with 87% of the money on the Rebels. Steven Willis's final score: Ole Miss 38, Vanderbilt 24. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. Everyone is asking what Adidas will do to the Ole Miss uniforms. That's the wrong question. Ask why Adidas paid a reported $20 million-plus a year in the first place. Steven Willis's answer: the powder blue. It has been the hottest color in college football for years, almost nobody else has it, and without it, he says, Ole Miss isn't commanding this deal. Two days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, ESPN. Steven Willis and Tom Vanderford go through the Adidas deal, the uniform Ole Miss should build with the control it kept, whether Tropical Storm Isaias decides Saturday in Nashville, and why every Vanderbilt game makes Ole Miss fans nervous. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Adidas, a tropical storm and the Vanderbilt game 2:10 "$140+ million will change a person's mind" 2:44 Ole Miss keeps control of the look 3:43 Carter has to get this right, and the stripes debate 5:43 Be honest: the powder blue earned the Adidas money 8:21 Walker Jones moves to next week, plus the recruiting angle 9:20 Put the OG logo back on the classic uniforms 14:00 Tropical Storm Isaias: why the weather may not decide it 15:27 Tom: "a different defense out there Saturday" 16:06 Wind matters more than rain 20:00 Can Ole Miss run the ball on Vanderbilt? 20:55 Why Vanderbilt games always make Ole Miss fans nervous 21:26 Tom's pick: Ole Miss 38-17 22:17 This should have been an 11 a.m. game 23:07 The weekend schedule 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The powder blue is why Adidas paid. "Without the powder blue jerseys… Ole Miss is not commanding $20 million on this deal," Steven says: Adidas is trying to sell apparel, and that color has been the hottest in college football for years. Tom Vanderford, who used to knock Adidas: "$140+ million will change a person's mind." 2. Keep it Ole Miss. With control of the look, Steven wants the navy helmet over white with red numbers and stripes, and the old tree logo back on the classic navy, red and white sets. The stripes-on-the-pants debate is coming, the way it hits Tennessee every few years. 3. Wind, not rain. Steven expects rain in Nashville but doesn't think the storm decides the game: the forecast gusts have already dropped from 40-45 mph to 30-35, and he thinks they settle at 20-25. Tom expects "a different defense out there Saturday" and picks Ole Miss 38-17. Steven's pick is 38-24. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. If Saturday turns into a rain game, the temptation is to hand the ball off and hide the quarterback. That's the wrong lesson. In Gainesville, Steven counted four straight handoffs in a 52-28 loss, and against LSU it ran for 63 yards and still won because Trinidad Chambliss threw for 363. Locked On Vandy's Corey Burton says Vandy's plan is to hit Chambliss; Ole Miss's should be to keep the ball in his hands. Two days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, ESPN. Steven Willis and Corey Burton of Locked On Vandy work both sides of Ole Miss at Vanderbilt: the storm, Kewan Lacy's pitch count, Vandy's quarterback shuffle, the players to watch, each team's path and a final score from each. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss-Vanderbilt: the rivalry that went away 4:02 Tropical storm watch: is the wind the bigger worry? 5:22 After Florida, and Kewan Lacy's pitch count 7:12 Vanderbilt's offense is still looking for an identity 8:29 Why didn't Vandy start Jared Curtis from day one? 13:56 Vanderbilt players to watch: Junior Sherrill and more 14:32 Ole Miss players to watch: Johntay Cook, Perkins 16:58 The tackling epidemic, and when the want-to hits 18:14 Track-meet potential and Vandy's plan for Chambliss 23:00 Ole Miss's path: play clean, let Chambliss be Chambliss 23:32 Vanderbilt's path: haymaker, haymaker, haymaker 25:20 Final scores: 38-24 and 31-21 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The rain is not a reason to hide the quarterback. Corey Burton says the wind may matter more than the rain if the storm holds tropical-storm strength, and Kewan Lacy is coming back on a pitch count; Pete Golding says he won't take "40 to 50 snaps." Steven's line: "Don't take the ball out of the hands of the best player in college football." 2. Vanderbilt still has no offensive identity. Burton: "this offense, Steve, has got to find an identity, and they don't have one yet." Vandy shuffled Blaze Berlowitz and five-star freshman Jared Curtis, then lost Curtis to injury, and Burton lists him as day-to-day. Steven's question: why wasn't Curtis starting from the opener? 3. The picks are in. Steven has Ole Miss 38-24, broken open by one big play against an eight-man blitz. Burton has Ole Miss 31-21 and says Vandy's only way to win is "haymaker, haymaker, haymaker," pressure from Miles Capers and Bryan Longwell on every snap. Vanderbilt held Georgia to 20 rushing yards in the first half and still lost by 24. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube ⚓ LOCKED ON VANDY with Corey Burton — wherever you get podcasts 📋 INDEED — Need to hire? Everyone is talking about the Adidas money. That's the wrong headline. Ole Miss took the bigger check and kept the pen: control of its colors, marks and uniforms. And the NIL funding inside the deal may matter more than either. Three days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, Nashville. Steven Willis breaks down Ole Miss leaving Nike after 27 years for a seven-year Adidas deal: what's official, what's only reported, why "pursued aggressively" tells you who chased whom, what changes in 2027, his one uniform ask, and the NIL questions he's bringing to Walker Jones of the Grove Collective on Thursday. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 It's official: Ole Miss leaves Nike for Adidas 2:03 The money: reported $20M+ a year, plus NIL funding 2:43 Keith Carter: "colors, marks and uniforms" 4:06 Adidas "pursued aggressively": who chased whom 5:54 Ole Miss took the bigger check and kept the pen 11:17 Keep it Ole Miss: bring back the red numbers 11:59 The NIL piece nobody's talking about 12:32 Walker Jones: does $1 still have to spend like $3? 13:19 The gear, the drop day and a showcase school 13:57 Both sides of the Egg Bowl in three stripes 14:27 Brand deals don't win games. Rosters do. 📌 THREE THINGS 1. It's official. Adidas becomes Ole Miss's footwear, uniform, apparel and sideline partner on July 1, 2027, in a seven-year deal through June 2034 covering 18 varsity programs. Ole Miss had been with Nike since 1999. The reported value is more than $20 million a year, plus NIL funding. 2. Ole Miss kept the pen. Keith Carter: Adidas "understands and respects what makes Ole Miss special, including our iconic colors, marks and uniforms." The school keeps creative liberties over its uniforms, and design talks have already started. 3. The NIL piece might matter most. The deal includes funding for athlete NIL deals, and Walker Jones of the Grove Collective is slated to join the show Thursday afternoon to talk about how it fits. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. Everyone is arguing about the poll: Ole Miss No. 9, the Florida team that beat them No. 16. That's the wrong fight. The AP Top 25 is not part of how the Playoff picks its field, and the real pattern is the seven-day hangover that hit Ole Miss after LSU, hit Florida after Ole Miss and now sits on Vanderbilt's sideline. Three days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, Nashville. Steven Willis shows why the cycle that cost Ole Miss in Gainesville now works in its favor, what Pete Golding said about right tackle, and why the second unranked opponent of Golding's career sets up the next eight weeks. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Ole Miss emptied the tank for LSU. Then Florida did. 3:07 A tank that never got refilled 5:04 A desperate Vanderbilt is a dangerous Vanderbilt 6:30 The poll everybody is arguing about 8:03 The AP Top 25 is the original engagement farm 8:44 Why none of it counts for the Playoff 10:11 Is the hangover real, or an excuse? 14:50 Right tackle: Tommy Kinsler and Connor Howes 17:03 Golding described depth, not a problem 17:55 What to watch on the first series 18:46 Every yard Ole Miss needed, it got 23:44 The game you're supposed to win 26:46 Can Ole Miss handle the game that doesn't feel big? 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Same cycle, different jersey. Ole Miss beat LSU with GameDay in the Grove, jumped to No. 4 and lost 52-28 at Florida seven days later. Florida beat No. 4 Ole Miss and lost 45-17 at Missouri seven days later. Ole Miss is coming off the open date; Vanderbilt is coming home from a 38-14 loss at No. 2 Georgia in which it was outgained 256-59 after halftime. 2. Golding on right tackle: "Getting Tommy back healthier ... having Connor getting meaningful snaps." That's Tommy Kinsler IV and Connor Howes (No. 65), and "at the tackle position, we got multiple guys that could play winning football." The run game only has to be good enough to let Trinidad Chambliss be Trinidad Chambliss. 3. Golding is the first FBS head coach ever to beat four AP-ranked teams in his first six games. He has faced exactly one unranked opponent, Charlotte (41-9). Vanderbilt is the second, and after Nashville come four ranked teams in seven weeks: No. 14 Missouri, No. 1 Texas, No. 2 Georgia and No. 17 Mississippi State. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's number one prediction market platform. Everyone wants to talk about how Ole Miss lost by 24 in Gainesville. That's the wrong question. The open date answered it: a practice with zero defensive calls, the whole team watching the Florida tape together, and a full-pads, live Sunday. The question now is whether that shows up Saturday against a Vanderbilt team that is 0-2 in the league and coming home sore. Four days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. Saturday, 2:30 PM CT / 3:30 PM ET, Nashville. Steven Willis, Daylan Flowers and Tyler Komis go live on the Rebel Squad to break down how Ole Miss bounces back from Florida, what it takes to handle Vanderbilt on the road, and then turn the stream over to your comments and questions. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 [FILL FROM THE STREAM VOD AFTER IT ENDS] 📌 THREE THINGS Ole Miss did not treat the open date like a vacation. After a 52-28 loss at Florida, Pete Golding ran a practice with zero defensive calls, put the whole roster in one room to watch the Florida tape series by series, and went full pads and live on Sunday night. Tah'j Butler's diagnosis: tackling is "10% technique, 90% want-to." Vanderbilt comes home 3-2 and 0-2 in the SEC after a 21-15 loss at Auburn and a 38-14 loss at No. 2 Georgia, where it was outgained 256-59 after halftime. Five-star freshman Jared Curtis missed Georgia with an injury, and Golding is preparing for Curtis, Blaze Berlowitz, and both at once. Terez Davis says Vanderbilt likes to "bring 7, 8 on 3rd down to confuse you." Luke Hasz says the run game is "one little thing" away. Every version of this story stops one sentence too early: Kewan Lacy is back. That's the wrong line. Golding's first answer Monday was yes — rehab all last week, practiced Sunday, mostly non-contact, "fully anticipate having him this week" — and then he kept going: "Even coming back, he's not gonna take the toll of 40 to 50 snaps." Anticipate is not cleared, and available is not whole. The man on a pitch count has a rushing touchdown in 12 straight games played, the longest at Ole Miss since 1956. Four days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. First road trip since Gainesville, and the depth chart is not set until Friday. Steven Willis takes apart the most revealing Ole Miss press conference of the season — the Lacy answer and the but inside it, the number Golding volunteered unasked, and the one Vanderbilt sentence that means Ole Miss is game-planning a formation nobody has put on tape. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Golding's first answer was about Kewan Lacy 5:16 Why the offense has to carry this one 5:51 "You're either coaching it or allowing it to happen" 6:46 The whole team watched the defensive tape 7:27 What the defense does to the offense 12:20 Players renegotiate contracts in December 12:58 "Almost nobody says it into a microphone" 15:17 The mercenary era of college football 15:50 Does December become the cutthroat meeting? 16:34 Miss toward your help, not away from it 19:25 "Almost like two different offenses" 20:45 "I think we will see both of them in the game" 23:54 The schedule that is left 24:09 You can lose one more and still get in 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Lacy is back and he is on a snap count — Golding said both halves out loud. Even available, no 40 to 50 snaps, so JT Lindsey and Makhi Frazier are the plan and not insurance. Lacy's 12-game rushing-TD streak is the longest at Ole Miss since 1956; only Derrick Henry (20) and Tebow (14) went longer in the SEC this century. 2. The number settles an argument. Golding, unprompted: 62 missed tackles for 482 yards — 70 percent of every rushing yard this defense has allowed. That is effort and want-to, not a call sheet. The fix: a Tuesday practice with zero defensive calls, full pads and live Sunday off a bye, and the whole team watching the defensive tape together. 3. Plans for all three. On Vanderbilt's quarterbacks: "It's almost like two different offenses." Jared Curtis flipped from Georgia. Blaze Berlowitz followed OC Tim Beck from New Mexico State — and Jerry Kill, the former NMSU head coach, is on Clark Lea's staff. Then Golding said he expects both QBs, possibly at the same time, so Ole Miss needs plans for all three. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 💼 ODOO — the all-in-one business management platform. Every version of the Ole Miss adidas story this week has led with the money. That's the wrong line. Ole Miss has worn Nike since 1999, and the objection that actually made this fan base nervous was never the number — it was what adidas did to other schools' uniforms for a decade. Brad Logan says Keith Carter told Talk of Champions the counter is now Nike's to make, and he expects none. The clause that closed this is creative control, and Mississippi State has been an adidas school the whole time without it. Five days to Ole Miss at Vanderbilt. First road trip since Gainesville, and the bye week got spent on ugly tape. Steven Willis brings in Brad Logan of Talk of Champions to separate the adidas money from the thing inside the deal that actually matters, builds the defensive fix for Nashville, and lands on the one game Logan says the season turns on — and it is not Vanderbilt. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Cold open: Ole Miss-Vanderbilt week 1:03 Brad Logan of Talk of Champions joins 1:59 The Godfather offer, and what it actually buys 5:31 The worst uniform combination he has ever seen 6:35 Keep the set of six, skip the experiments 9:53 The houndstooth collar that ended every tweak 15:12 "How in the world is Ole Miss even in the game?" 16:00 Home field matters more than it ever has 17:43 The Vanderbilt you remember is gone 24:16 Vegas called the trap game back in the summer 25:09 The road to 10-2, quadrant by quadrant 26:36 Oklahoma is the game, not Vanderbilt 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Creative control is the deal, not the dollar figure. The fear was never the check — it was adidas design. Logan: "I don't know that it matters what's on the uniform. I think what matters is the bank account." Steven's counter: you want to walk in and see your team, and creative control makes both true at once. 2. Home field stopped being a tiebreaker and became the story. Logan has been vocal all year: "there have been so many instances where the home team just explodes and the visiting team comes out and sleepwalks." Ole Miss lived both ends — beat LSU in Oxford, then got run off in Gainesville. Florida did the same to Missouri seven days later. 3. The season math is already written, and Vanderbilt is not the hinge. Logan splits it into two six-game halves and wants 5-1 from the first. Then: "you have to go to Oklahoma and win because losing at Florida made that game a must-win." Drop one of Texas, Georgia or Mississippi State after that and it is still 10-2. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🥩 BUTCHERBOX — butcherbox.com/lockedoncollege for $20 off your first box, plus chicken breasts in every box for life, with free shipping always. 🎯 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with FanDuel Rewards Club. Every take this week says Ole Miss just got the biggest apparel deal in the league. That's the wrong frame. Adidas made a Godfather offer — seven years, more than $20 million annually per Brett McMurphy — but it's the third one they've made in about a year. Penn State is near $30M. Tennessee's is reported in the $20-30M range. Ole Miss didn't top the sport. Ole Miss joined a tier. And the money isn't even what closed it. Five days to Vanderbilt. Eight games left and the margin is what's gone. Stephen Willis explains why creative control — not the dollars — is what made this an offer with no counter, goes looking for the measurable fingerprint behind two straight weeks of emotional-peak teams getting destroyed on the road, and walks all seven SEC lines including the one that says exactly where this team sits. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Adidas made an offer Ole Miss could not refuse 4:13 Not a ranking — the tier adidas has been building 8:23 Six jerseys, and what creative control actually buys 12:38 Two teams, three weeks, the same blowout 14:53 The fingerprint: three points of feeling 24:22 The upset of the week and a Red River rock fight 27:15 A January game in Oxford, or one on an airplane 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The objection to adidas was never the money — it was that adidas has put genuinely bad-looking teams on a field, and Ole Miss has one of the best color identities in the sport. The reporting says there are collaborative discussions on branding, colors and uniform design. Hand the school the pen and the last objection dies. That's what separates a Godfather offer from a merely large one. 2. Mississippi State is an adidas school whose last public number is about $2.5M a year. Adidas just handed their biggest rival roughly eight times that. And State left Nike in the first place because they believed Nike favored Ole Miss. How long before Starkville goes shopping Under Armour or New Balance? 3. Florida opened a 2.5-point favorite at Missouri and closed around 5.5. The market added three full points on one emotional win, then Florida lost by 28. A study in the Eastern Economic Journal covering 14,000+ college football games found books inflate lines after strong performances — and that fading it is profitable. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🥩 BUTCHERBOX — butcherbox.com/lockedoncollege for $20 off your first box, plus chicken breasts in every box for life, with free shipping always. 🎯 FANDUEL — College Football Pick 'Em, free to play: fanduel.com/lockedonolemiss 🛋️ WAYFAIR — Join Wayfair Rewards and get 5% back on every purchase. wayfair.com 👕 PANTS STORE — Ole Miss game day gear for the whole family: pantsstore.com Odds via FanDuel Sportsbook · 21+ and present in select states · Gambling problem? Every take on this bye week has the Ole Miss defense needing a new wrinkle. That's the wrong line. Florida ran for 302 yards and Ole Miss managed one tackle for loss on 53 carries — that is not a scheme that needs more, it is one that needs less. Stephen Willis put the five-to-ten-call theory to three former Rebels and all three agreed, before Will Echoles said "paralysis by analysis" at the podium on his own. Nine days to Vanderbilt. Eight games left, and every goal still on the board. Steven Willis sits down with Tom Vanderford, the mayor of Corinth, and does three things with a bye week: diagnoses what actually beat Ole Miss in Gainesville, builds the defensive reset he would hand Pete Golding on Monday, and takes apart the reported Adidas offer that could change how this department is funded. The figure being floated is roughly triple Nike's reported counter. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The bye week nobody gets to wash off 1:29 "The worst defense I've seen since Mr. McGriff" 2:14 Three ranked wins in September, and the one they missed 3:06 Five to ten calls, man coverage, and go 3:33 "Earn the right to be complex" 4:09 The kickoff question nobody has answered 5:00 Perspective, from a man who has had worse weeks 5:59 The backlash is a guy screaming in the first quarter 6:26 Every goal is still achievable 11:25 The Adidas report, and what Nike is said to have offered 12:22 Why a $14 million gap settles the argument 13:17 Creative control is the whole ballgame 14:34 The TV rights bubble already burst 15:49 Pride is the only thing holding this together 17:58 This is not the Vandy you remember 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The line of scrimmage is the whole story, and Vanderford got there in one sentence: "We just got our butts whooped on the line of scrimmage." Losing Kewan Lacy mattered. It does not explain 302 rushing yards. One tackle for loss on 53 carries is not a talent number — it is a hesitation number, and that is what a shorter call sheet deletes. 2. Five to ten calls, and this is not one man's hunch. Willis has run it past John Fourcade, Bill Flowers and Todd Wade — three former Rebels, three eras, three positions — and all three agreed. A lot of man coverage, send five and six every snap, live with getting beaten over the top. "Play fast, create negative plays, earn the right to be complex." 3. If the Adidas report is accurate, there is no debate. Ole Miss is reported to be near a switch that would put the Rebels in the top five of Adidas' college catalog at around $20 million a year, against a Nike counter said to be roughly a third of that. No amount of good-looking gear closes a gap that size. Creative control kills the last objection — and Tennessee just left Nike for Adidas while Miami went the other way. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free plus the members-only room, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD — free to join: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎟️ GAMETIME — Download the Gametime app, create an account, and use code LOCKEDON for $20 off your first purchase. Ole Miss lost 52-28 at No. 21 Florida, and the number that explains it is 302 — Florida's rushing yards. Not the secondary everybody spent the offseason worrying about. The run game. Steven Willis joined Reuben and the crew on The 24th Floor during the bye week to put the loss in order: what it actually cost, what it didn't, why the first four plays of the game were the wrong four plays, and what Pete Golding should do with fourteen days before Nashville. The honest version: there have been exactly three teams in the last 30 years to win three ranked games in September — Ohio State 2006, LSU 2011, Clemson 2017 — and all three were national title teams. Ole Miss had two banked and the third one in front of them. They didn't get it. So this probably isn't a title-level team. But every goal is still on the board, and there are eight games left. IN THIS EPISODE: • Why the September test matters and why losing it didn't close a door • Pass-to-run, not run-to-pass — and the four running plays that started the game • Trinidad Chambliss went 25-of-34 for 298 and ran for 64 and two scores in a 24-point loss • Why you cannot wrap him in bubble wrap, even with Kewan Lacy already hurt • The bye-week fix is subtraction: cut the call sheet to 5-10 plays • Cat-on-cat, one-gap, see ball go get ball — and go heat up a true freshman • The Vanderbilt you're walking into is not the Vanderbilt you left ON THE RECORD: Vanderbilt beat Tennessee 45-24 at Neyland on November 29 of last year. Forty-five. We have said "50" on this show before and that was wrong every time. 45-24. UP NEXT: Ole Miss at Vanderbilt, Saturday, October 10, FirstBank Stadium, Nashville. Vanderbilt is 3-1 under Clark Lea with true freshman Jared Curtis at quarterback. Thanks to The 24th Floor for having us. Tim Thomas came on to preview Ole Miss basketball and ended up making a campaign speech. Elston Turner is not in the rafters at the Pavilion, and Thomas called that a travesty. Here is the file: All-Century Team, 4th in school history in scoring at 1,805 points, 2nd in rebounding at 828, and 22 points in the 66-62 SEC Tournament title win over Georgia that sent Ole Miss to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history. He then played eight NBA seasons and is an assistant coach with the Minnesota Timberwolves right now. No banner. 8 days to Vanderbilt. Basketball opens with an exhibition against Alabama on Oct 15. Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Tim Thomas go through Chris Beard's rebuilt roster, the Maui Invitational, and the end of the Tad Pad — plus the one correction the 1981 story has needed for forty-five years. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 [FILL FROM CASTMAGIC AFTER RECORDING] 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Elston Turner's case is stronger than the complaint. 1,805 career points is 4th all-time here; 828 rebounds is 2nd. He is on the All-Century Team. He scored 22 in the 1981 SEC championship, a 66-62 win over Georgia that produced the first NCAA Tournament bid in Ole Miss history. He is currently an NBA assistant with Minnesota. Thomas has written letters and named who he wrote to. 2. One correction to a forty-five-year-old story. Turner did NOT shut Dominique Wilkins down in that final — Wilkins scored 28 and was named tournament MVP in a losing effort. What's true is better: Bob Weltlich told Turner at halftime that when he was ready to play like he had for four years, to let him know. Turner was 4-of-11 in the first half and scored 11 after it. 3. No walk-ons. Fifteen scholarship players, every one there to play. Micah Handlogten (7-1, Florida), Santiago Trouet (6-11, Arizona State), Roman Siulepa (6-7, Pitt), Adam "Budd" Clark (Seton Hall), Ben Henshall (Perth) and Corey Stephenson (18 ppg at FIU). Thomas's read: best rebounding team Beard has had here, after a 15-win season. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎟️ GAMETIME — Last-minute college football tickets with all-in prices, panoramic seat views and Zone Deals. Everybody looked at this October and saw a death march. Here is the part nobody put on the graphic: the order. Florida — the team that just put 302 rushing yards on this defense — plays at No. 1 Texas on Oct 17, seven days before Ole Miss does. Florida plays No. 2 Georgia on Oct 31 in Atlanta, seven days before Georgia comes to Oxford. Ole Miss gets to watch its own blueprint get attacked by a top-five offense, with a full week to answer it, in both of the games that decide the season. 8 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Vandy plays at No. 2 Georgia first, on Oct 3. Steven Willis works the bye week from the schedule out — why the calendar is friendlier than the opponent list looks, why a passive front against a five-star freshman is the one thing that loses the Vanderbilt game, and the provision in the Senate's college sports bill that would be felt before this season ends. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Key games and road challenges 4:52 Intense football season schedule 8:08 Examining Ole Miss' tough schedule 14:03 Discussing a controversial football win 18:43 Discussing Vanderbilt's performance 22:53 College sports conference realignment 27:40 Big week for basketball politics 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The schedule order is the good news. Florida at Texas on Oct 17; Ole Miss at Texas on Oct 24. Florida vs Georgia on Oct 31 in Atlanta — the first time that game has been in Atlanta since 1995; Georgia in Oxford on Nov 7. Seven days, twice. It cuts both ways, but a staff watching its own problem attacked in real time with a week to answer beats an opponent reading a blueprint. 2. "They are not good enough to not play aggressive defense." Against Florida, Ole Miss got six total pressures and ZERO sacks on ~112 pass-rush snaps, with only two of the six coming from the front. A passive four-man rush doesn't make a true freshman uncomfortable — it hands him a clean pocket. Flowers and Wade said the same thing independently: send five, send six, put a clock on him. 3. The coaching provision, not the 20-team cap, is what you'd feel first. Head coaches couldn't leave or take another FBS job mid-season — no more hires in week ten. And it slows the portal by the same mechanism, since players follow coaches. Paired with one penalty-free transfer, it changes November. The House doesn't reconvene until Nov 9. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎟️ GAMETIME — Last-minute college football tickets with all-in prices, panoramic seat views and Zone Deals. Everyone spent the bye week arguing about Pete Golding's scheme. That's the wrong line. Will Echoles rushed the passer 17 times against Florida and produced ZERO pressures, seven days after posting 7 pressures and a sack on the exact same 54 snaps — and the unit around him managed six total pressures and no sacks on roughly 112 pass-rush snaps. You cannot scheme your way to one tackle for loss on 53 carries. Somebody has to beat a block, and for one Saturday in Gainesville nobody did. 9 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. Two players went to a podium Tuesday and said more useful things about this defense than anybody analyzing it all week. Steven Willis takes the two Tuesday pressers apart and puts the charting next to them — Echoles calling his own room's tape "a lack of violence," the 14 missed tackles that are now three straight weeks at exactly 14, and the one number from the bye week that says the offensive line was never the problem. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Bye week player insights 5:24 Energy and momentum in football 8:25 Challenges with new defense starters 15:34 Importance of scout team effort 19:48 Locker room vibe after the loss 21:21 Team optimism during the bye week 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Echoles indicted his own unit and the charting is harsher than he was. He said Ole Miss put "a whole lot of lack of violence on film," then put the missed tackles at "10-plus." The charted number is 14. He low-balled his own room. And 14 is no Florida anomaly: it was 14 against LSU and 14 against Charlotte. Three straight weeks at 14, noticed only in the week they lost by 24. 2. Paralysis by analysis started on this show. Steven Willis put the phrase to Bill Flowers on Wednesday and described the mechanism — read your key, and if he does this you do this, until nobody is playing and everybody is processing. Flowers agreed and wanted a 4-3 and five calls. Fourcade agreed too. Then Echoles, with no idea any of it had been said: "we try to play too perfect, trying to do all the right things right instead of being instinctual." 3. The offensive line was never the problem, and Kutas isn't guessing. Every Ole Miss lineman improved his pass blocking from LSU — Terez Davis to 89.4, a season best, Townsend from 29.3, the worst by any Rebel all year, to 75.9. Ole Miss lost by 24 on its best protection day of the season. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🎰 FANDUEL — Make this your most rewarding season ever with FanDuel Rewards Club. Everybody spent the bye week arguing about whether Ole Miss quit or whether the scheme is too complicated. Todd Wade gave a third answer in three letters: C-gap. Ole Miss plays a 4-2-5 built for spread offenses. Florida played 12 and 13 personnel, made extra gaps outside and attacked Blake Purchase and Suntarine Perkins — a linebacker essentially playing the other end. Wade: "If I was the Florida offensive coordinator, I would have done exactly the same thing." He called it indefendable. 9 days to Vanderbilt in Nashville. The last of four legends on the Florida autopsy, and the only one who put a formation on it. Steven Willis and Todd Wade take the Florida film apart at the point of attack — why the edge was outnumbered by design, why a former left tackle is asking for FEWER runs, and the personnel question nobody else has said out loud. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 Balancing play precision and instinct 6:03 Analyzing game strategy and performance 7:03 Ole Miss football strategy discussion 13:33 Team improvements and practice focus 18:30 First touchdown and quick response 26:14 Analyzing first quarter defense 28:25 Preparing for Nashville trip 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Wade raised the personnel question everybody else is avoiding. "It might be a personnel issue… maybe Purchase isn't the answer." He pointed to a first-quarter snap where Purchase jumped back to brace himself, and said far too much pressure was aimed at one player on both sides of the line. He also noted Golding's familiarity with the 3-4. 2. A former left tackle asked for fewer runs. The early drives stalled because Ole Miss forced the run against a front it could not move: "We abandoned what we're really great at." Florida held the ball 36:59 to 23:01. When the Rebels finally threw, Deuce Alexander went for 7 catches and 134 yards, his second 100-yard game — too late. 3. Vanderbilt is the same problem arriving again. Buster Faulkner, who just put 302 rushing yards on Ole Miss, is Florida's OC — and Vandy runs a lot of the same misdirection, with Jerry Kill as chief consultant. Wade: "If I'm Clark Lea, that's the first thing I see." The flip side: Vandy blitzes rather than rushing four, and starts a true freshman QB. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube ⚡ 5-HOUR ENERGY — Bring the sweetness with Cotton Candy 5-hour ENERGY shots. A Finebaum caller named this show, named the host, called Pete Golding a clown, and made exactly one checkable claim: that Golding couldn't get a pass rush with Will Anderson and Dallas Turner. That's the wrong hill. Will Anderson played three seasons in Golding's defense — 7.0 sacks in 2020, then 17.5 sacks and 34.5 tackles for loss in 2021, then 10.0 more in 2022 — and won back-to-back Nagurski Trophies, back-to-back SEC Defensive Player of the Year awards and two unanimous All-American selections doing it. Dallas Turner's breakout was 2023, after Golding had already left for Oxford. 10 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the temperature outside this fanbase has gotten a long way ahead of the record. Steven Willis plays the call in full, walks the Will Anderson years one season at a time, counts what seven career games actually look like, and then gets to a linebacker about to play a lot more and a Vanderbilt team nobody has updated their file on. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 A caller takes a victory lap in the first quarter 6:03 Will Anderson, Dallas Turner, and which years they played 7:16 Answering the argument and leaving the man alone 12:21 Seven career games. Six against ranked teams. 15:52 Tah'j Butler and what a transfer has to unlearn 21:45 Vanderbilt is 3-1 with a five-star freshman 24:49 Bring back the red numbers 27:24 Ten days to Nashville 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Six of Pete Golding's seven career games as a head coach have come against ranked teams, and he is 4-2 in them. He beat No. 3 Georgia 39-34 in the Sugar Bowl and No. 7 LSU 32-24 in September. Both losses — Miami and Florida — are to teams sitting in the top ten this morning. And Saturday in Gainesville was the first true road game he has ever coached. 2. Tah'j Butler arrived from Georgia Tech in January, and spring was his first work in this system. He is not a project: 26 games over two seasons in Atlanta, 34 tackles and an interception last year. On3's Zach Berry graded Saturday and headlined that Butler had his best game yet — on the day the rest of that defense had its worst. A transfer doesn't arrive empty. He arrives with something to erase first. 3. Vanderbilt is starting a five-star true freshman at quarterback. Jared Curtis made his first career start against NC State, trailed 24-7 in the third quarter, and won it 35-31. The Commodores are 3-1, the lone loss at Auburn, and Clark Lea is in year six. Ole Miss should still be favored in Nashville. That is not the same thing as it handling itself. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 🍭 5-HOUR ENERGY — Cotton Candy 5-Hour Energy shots. Everybody watching the Florida tape decided Ole Miss has a talent problem on defense. Bill Flowers says that's the wrong read. His argument is structural and it is specific: you cannot fit an SEC power running game with two linebackers on the field. Go to a 4-3, put a third body in the box, simplify the calls, and let athletes who are currently thinking instead go play. He kept calling himself an armchair quarterback while making the most concrete defensive argument anyone has made on this show all season. 10 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the fix on the table is not more scheme — it is less of it, plus one more linebacker. Steven Willis and Ole Miss legend Bill Flowers go through the Florida film, land on a 4-3 and extreme simplification, and then build the plan for a true freshman quarterback in Nashville — which turns out to be the same plan, only louder. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 What the offense loses without Kewan Lacy 4:07 Two linebackers cannot fit an SEC running game 8:27 The case for going back to a 4-3 14:09 What this bye week actually has to fix 19:04 Time of possession and the identity question 20:42 What happens if Ole Miss misses the playoff 26:40 How you attack a true freshman quarterback 28:12 Ten days to Nashville 📌 THREE THINGS 1. Flowers watched Florida run at a two-linebacker front and called it hat on hat — perfect calls, every time, with gaping holes where a third linebacker would have been standing. His fix is a 4-3 and a stated identity: stop the run first. His warning is blunter. No team wins a national title without a power running game, and if you cannot stop one, the rest of this schedule does not care how much talent you have. 2. The simplification argument now has two former players behind it. Fourcade said a transfer has to unlearn a scheme before he can learn yours. Flowers says the calls themselves are the problem — read your key, and if he does this do that, and if he does that do this, until nobody plays fast. Line up in man, run about five calls, and find out what these athletes actually are before Austin. 3. The plan for Jared Curtis is pressure and nothing else. Flowers would blitz five or six every snap and refuse to get clever: do not try to confuse a true freshman, just put a clock on him. And the reason is the part people miss — the more snaps a five-star freshman gets, the better he gets. Do not let him get comfortable. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's #1 prediction market platform. Every story about Keegan Croucher this week leads with the stat line. That's the wrong line. He committed to Ole Miss on October 5 — he committed to Lane Kiffin — and when Kiffin left for LSU, Georgia came, Kentucky came, Indiana came, and a 17-year-old with offers from Penn State, Michigan, Miami and Oregon never reopened it. The 27-of-35 for 531 yards and seven touchdowns is real. The part that tells you something about this program is that he stayed. 11 days to Vanderbilt. Bye week two of two, and the recruiting board moved four separate times in eight days while everybody was busy being mad about 52-28. Steven Willis takes apart the comparison everybody is making, runs the playoff seed math nobody wants to hear, and then finds three Ole Miss names on one high school campus 400 miles from Oxford — two of whom transferred in. ⏱️ CHAPTERS 0:00 The bye week and a board that moved four times 3:50 He committed to Kiffin. Kiffin left. He stayed. 7:06 What ninth in the country actually costs you 13:40 Tae Walden was in the building for the LSU win 17:48 Oregon is bankrolled — and Ole Miss has momentum 22:02 The 2028 board and five expert predictions 24:46 Kiffin took four coaches. Seven of ten stayed. 26:50 What to watch during the bye 📌 THREE THINGS 1. The loyalty is the story, not the arm. Croucher committed October 5, 2025 to a coach who was gone months later, and Kirby Smart personally came after him. He is 6-4.5 and 200 now, up an inch and a half and fifteen pounds since March. You will see him called the No. 4 quarterback in the country — that is a spring number. On3 has him 10th, and 122nd overall. 2. Ninth place does not host anything. Twelve teams make the playoff, the top four seeds get a bye, and seeds five through twelve play the first round on the higher seed's home field. Ole Miss is ninth. Florida is eighth. Last December this program was the No. 6 seed and hosted Tulane in Oxford, winning 41-10 — same building, one seed line, a completely different December. 3. Three Rebel targets go to the same high school and it is in Chattanooga. Antwaun Adams (No. 102 nationally) and Braxton Rein (No. 172) both attend the Baylor School, and so does Keegan Croucher. Two of the three transferred in. Baylor is 6-0, averaging 40.6 points a game, and 12th in the national composite. The 2028 class looks like Mississippi plus one school in Tennessee. 🦈 EVERYDAYER CLUB — ad-free episodes plus members-only Discord, 7-day free trial: https://lockedonolemiss.supercast.com 💬 FREE LOOM PRIVATE DISCORD: https://discord.gg/KF3dtcQJhC 🌐 EVERYTHING ELSE: https://olemisshub.com 🎧 EVERY PLATFORM: https://link.chtbl.com/LOOleMiss?sid=YouTube 📈 KALSHI — America's #1 prediction market platform.
