The Morgan State transfer tells us how he came up as a defensive back, then WR - traits that his new Head Coach could admire - before becoming a running back in college.

As the season is almost here, our last batch of exclusive interviews with members of George Kiefer's men's soccer teams concludes with the last four of the players who transferred with him from Grand Canyon to USF. For an excellent story on Kiefer's expectations for the Bulls, head to THIS link.

One of the few returning starters on the defsnsive side, followed (at the 5:15 mark) by a former 5-star recruit who followed Brian Hartline from Columbus. Both sat down with the media Wednesday afternoon after practice.
Aug 1216 min
An informative and enjoyable sitdown with the leader of the Bulls' defense from Wednesday after practice. "Tips and Overthrows... Get Those" will be stuck in your head afterwards - at least it is in the Bulls' players. Aldridge guided the American's top defense at East Carolina in his lone season with the Pirates.
Aug 1217 min
A series of near-misses frustrated the Canadian last year, but in her third season as a Bull Cabral sounds ready to take charge of the offense.
Aug 124 min
Lots of quality analysis and intel here! We start with Eric and Mikey as they were competitors in the Patriot League, with Axtman's Lafayette team pulling off an incredible run to the NCAA tournament - but topping him was Steinhaeuser's Saint Louis squad, which reached the College Cup. Steinhaeuser also has some familiarity with the Miami-based Bulls. And after committing to George Kiefer at Grand Canyon, Martin said the decision was easy to shift his new enviromment to Florida.
Aug 1219 min
With the graduation of all-conference Raegan Richardson, the question is who will take over the role as setter(s) - but we think after hearing these conversations, you'll rest assured the group is more than capable! And oh yeah, the freshman (McCaughey) is a Legacy Bull as not only did her Mom play for USF... she was then standout, now HC Jolene Shepardson's roomy!
Aug 1117 min
These two were a little bit of a package deal, not originally but turned out that way! Cadore is not shy about his strength and goal-scoring abilities, which Becerra confirms!
Aug 118 min
Can't tell these two are freshman! Stands to reason for Palmi, who was Osceola County's all-time leading hitter, surpassing her older sister in her senior season while being coached by her mother, a standout player at JU in her own right. As for Perez, a Middle, go ahead and give her a podcast!
Aug 1011 min
His name translates to "Father of Peace" and that side of him comes out in the interview - but not on the soccer field! After impressing with a club team in Seattle, Zemenfes stayed in Oregon to help his Division II team to the NCAA tournament, and is ready to help the Bulls do the same at the big-time level.
Aug 103 min
A couple of freshmen who hope to boost the Bulls' attack.
Aug 98 min
Vecchiarelli and Frasca are both freshman from Toronto, playing at the Woodbridge club for almost a decade together - under the guidance of one of the Team Canada World Cup assistant coaches, Paul Stalteri. Frasca actually committed to Grand Canyon and made the switch to stay with George Kiefer. A defender, Frasca estimates he has seen Vecchiarelli score 200 goals in his lifetime, about 40 of those coming last season.
Aug 910 min
Two come from UF, two originally come from upstate New York, all have incredible joy for joining the USF women's soccer roster. We start with "AP" who played a semester at Kentucky, then it's fellow New Yorker Tellex (5:20 mark) who like Malkin (10:10 mark) started off in Gainesville.
Aug 815 min
Starting with a sophomore from Tampa Prep who practically never left the field as a freshman, then a junior who, well pretty much the same but add a year.
Aug 810 min
Be prepared to be impressed! Zeta Washington, is from Ponte Vedra Beach and most recently played at Cincinnati, sitting out last year due to injury - but picking up some awesome broadcasting experience in the meantime. She is very ready to return to the volleyball court, wears a memorable jersey number for a reason, and longtime tennis fans will remember her father, MalaVai.
Aug 87 min
Hear from a veteran wide receiver and a transfer offensive linemen after Friday's practice.
Aug 715 min
Get up to speed on the Bulls' offense from Coach Beck - this was not video streamed, so we're your exclusive place to get some quality audio as Beck met with our own Darek Sharp, Joey Johnston and a few others on the USF Beat Friday.
Aug 714 min
Two players expected to help hold down the back half of the pitch for women's soccer, which kicks off its season next week with a road trip to Washington. Starting with Lakewood Ranch's Regan - prounounced REE-gun, by the way - then Rightmire (3:30 mark), in her third season with USF.
Aug 79 min
Garvin came up big with 6 blocks in both the Bulls' conference tournament finale, and in the NCAA matchup with Penn State - so she knows all about coming up big in the big moments. Third-year Bull Wass de Czege follows at the 6-minute mark, and likes this new group of surrounding talent. (Note, she is from Tallahassee and the Bulls defeated FSU last year at the Yuengling Center, hence the photo of Garvin celebrating one of the many key plays in that victory).
Aug 610 min
Lot of fun to be had in these talks with a pair of men's soccer sophomores, Auby, who flashed as a freshman with four goals, was able to watch his native Norway in person at this year's World Cup - that was not so bad. He also has quite the collection of other sports he's handy at, as in best in the country in one! Injuries kept Wilson off the field for roughly half the games but he's ready to roll, and as someone who spent his life in Pa. and Nashville, is the right guy to ask about which cuisine is supreme.
Aug 610 min
After four years at UCF, Buck is happy to spend her final season with the Bulls - she explains that, and gives some tremendous technical breakdowns of 1v1 battles and trying to usurp floppers. Next is Stinson (4:50 mark), a fullback who listed her "fun fact" as having had heart surgery! Darek naturally asks for more details. Then it's 5th-year Bull Bulis (9:30 mark), healthy as can be after an ACL while balancing biomedical engineering with back-line brilliance.
Aug 613 min
Growing up maybe before you want to. That's what Ilay Bracha, one of two freshmen from Israel on the men's soccer team, says that mandatory two years of military service leads to. And it could lead to benefits on the soccer field. He and Rotem Garama played as rivals in their homeland but have quickly become best buddies at USF, and the defenders are thrilled to be here.
Aug 57 min
They grew up entrenched in basketball, what with their fathers both being NBA starts, but Samiyah Abdur-Rahim and Ryelle Rondo are most definitely volleyball-playing ladies. And of course Bulls fans will know all about Samiyah's uncle Amir, she and Darek discuss his impact on her and Bulls nation. Ryelle's father Rajon won two NBA titles.
Aug 513 min
Gaby is a great goalie - and fortunately for us, was very gabby with her older brothers. Fun and informing stuff here on her sports upbringing, and experience catching footballs from the serious throwers of them. No wonder catching a hard soccer shot comes naturally!
Aug 56 min
A couple of Micahs join the men's soccer program as freshmen, but have experience well beyond what their year in college would suggest. Listen as Micah Williams speaks of his extensive upbringing in Europe, moving there from North Lauderdale as a preteen, and while Micah Harris (6:30 mark) stayed in the states, he was with the big club in Houston (Dynamo) before he turned 10!
Aug 411 min
Get to know a trio of very impressive young ladies. McKenna Battilla, also a tennis standout, hails from Polk County. Jada Alexander (4:30) mark is from Royal Palm Beach and Avril Clark (11:30) from the opposite side of the state, Gulf Breeze. All three are thrilled with their experiences on campus so far.
Aug 417 min
Originally Darek hoped to speak to these two at the same time, but it worked out better this way as it allowed for more smack talk. Max and (older, by three minutes) Jack Kiefer were certainly thrilled for their father George getting the USF men's soccer job again, and more than happy to come back to Tampa alongside him.
Aug 313 min
While many of the new members of the volleyball squad were with the team for the spring semester, Serbia's Sofija Djordjevic arrived recently - as in less than 24 hours before she sat down with Darek! Pretty impressive considering... and speaking of, Rana Yamada was the digs leader for ACC squad Syracuse in her first Division I season.
Aug 38 min
Defense was a big part of the incredible run made by the Grand Canyon men's soccer team last season - and handily enough, two of George Kiefer's starting three in the back have come with him to USF! Here are Charles Volcy and Felipe Cobian (4-minute mark), who also happened to score a couple of the most memorable goals in the Antelopes' postseason push. The first-round win at UCLA was clinched by Volcy's PK, he discusses that with Darek (view it HERE ). As for Cobian, there would have been no NCAA tournament if GCU had not topped San Jose State in a rain-soaked WAC final. And it was THIS Cobian free kick that got the ball rolling.
Aug 29 min
Get ready to learn about two new members of the women's soccer team, from either side of Houston - their skill sets both on the field, and off - and get ready to laugh! First is defender Ellie Pitts, Redshirt Sophomore from Sugar Land (south of Houston) coming from Mississippi State, followed at the 5:15 mark by the hilarious R-Jr. Midfielder Reese Rupe (Texas A&M via Spring, TX).
Aug 112 min
With George Kiefer, who led USF to 10 NCAA tournament appearances including two Elite 8 spots during a run of seven straight tourneys, back at the helm, we begin with two of the top leaders on the pitch. Starting with all-conferernce central midfielder Pedro Faife from Miami, and then (at the 5:30 mark) right back/wing Tyler Richardson who is fully aware of the program's history under Kiefer - and wants his last year to echo it! Darek Sharp had a chance to sit down with all 28 players on the 2026 roster, including plenty transferring from Grand Canyon, which Kiefer helped take to new heights with a Sweet 16 berth last year - GCU had never won an NCAA match until then. You'll be getting all of those conversations here on the podcast page.
Aug 112 min
One of the most versatile players on the Bulls shares her summer experiences, right in the middle of one of the World Cup host cities, where she also happened to win a USL title (details HERE ). Maya is in her third season with the Bulls.
Jul 314 min
The first of our 20 interviews with members of the women's soccer squad kicks off with Brooke Fabri, in her third year out of Phoenix. She gets into balancing her courseload with soccer training, and sheds some intel on a pair of new assistant coaches on Chris Brown's staff.
Jul 314 min
After three seasons at Maryland, Laila burst into the lineup at USF and is beaming to begin her second year, and final one collegiately, with the Bulls.
Jul 296 min
After being freshman of the year in the A-10 at Saint Louis, Brus made some major contributions both offensively and defensively in helping the Bulls make the NCAA tournament. Addy discusses that whole experience - after starting off with some cuisine talk as if you're from Cincinnati, you understand but if not, yes spaghetti on chili is a thing.
Jul 297 min
Kicking off our series of chats with the entire 2026 South Florida volleyball team, we begin with one of the veterans, and standout defender from Gainesville, Miya Thomas.
Jul 296 min
She received a contract extension after leading the Bulls volleyball back to the NCAA tournament for the first time in more than two decades - when she was a player here! Darek starts this catch-up with Coach Jolene Shepardson discussing the incredible non-conference schedule that includes trips to defending national runner-up Kentucky, as well as Stanford and Penn State. The roster features a mix of returning hitters like Addy Brus and Laila Ivey, but must try and fill the hole left by the graduation of Maria Clara Andrade (already playing professionally in Brazil). Note - this was part of the volleyball team's Media Day so stay tuned for conversations with the entire team as well!
Jul 2811 min
After a summer break, we're back to posting plenty of interviews and other content for you! We start with a couple of quick chats that Darek Sharp had with the two players chosen to represent the Bulls at the 2026 American Kickoff event at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront.
Jul 286 min
The last of our sitdowns definitely comes with a story - an amazing one, of perserverance and patience. Joey and Darek speak with Garrett Johnson, a transfer from George Washington whose ACL tear two seasons ago was nothing compared what happened in 2021 during his senior year in high school when a hip tumor (fortunately, benign) threatened to end his playing days. Full story on that is available HERE . But great news, he's healthy and ready to run with the Bulls.
Jun 139 min
The Texas native had an interesting three years in Chapel Hill, being held out his second season, last year breaking into the starting lineup - and playing a career high in minutes, and scoring career highs (15, 13 points) in those two starts - but is ready to be a bigger part of his team's offense, something High says Chris Mack emphasized will be the case here.
Jun 125 min
The former Orlando prep star (Oak Ridge HS) was recruited by Chris Mack to Louisville but suffered an Achilles injury and never got to play for him. James, a versatile guard, did excel with the Cardinals in the two seasons after Mack departed, starting every game and averaging 11.3 points. James then transferred to NC State only to suffer a career-threatening knee issue (read more on that HERE ), and last year at Vanderbilt never got on track averaging less than two points in about 10 minutes per contest. Needless to say Mike is thrilled to have the chance to regain his health and production.
Jun 125 min
Hear from two of the three freshmen on the squad, starting with a point guard from the northeast in Moore, and (at the 3:30 mark) a Kentucky kid who knows plenty about Chris Mack being from Louisville, and has some words on the other freshman Jake Feldhaus having competed with him plenty on the hardwood.
Jun 118 min
Was the High School Player of the Year in Michigan and carried that to college with a very productive three seasons at Toledo - which led Akron by 12 points in the MAC finals this March before losing on a 3-pointer with 6 seconds left. He's definitely looking to get to the NCAA tournament with his new team.
Jun 115 min
Joey and Darek get Dancler's thoughts on coming to USF, where he marvelled at the facilities which made it a done deal upon arrival. Averaged more than 15 points each of the past two seasons, last year at Coastal Carolina, and at LeMoyne prior.
Jun 104 min
Longtime Bulls fans will have no problems recalling Fred Lewis, the Chamberlain standout who was a key part of the 1991-92 team that reached the NCAA tournament. Naturally Joey and Darek went straight to that storyline when they sat down with his son Joshua, who played for Fred at Blake High School, and reached the state finals there. Originally Joshua committed to USF under Amir Abdur-Rahim but his tragic passing changed those plans, and he spent his freshman season at Louisiana, but is quite happy - as is Dad - to be with the Bulls.
Jun 105 min
In the first of our nine sitdowns with members of the men's basketball squad, Joey Johnston and Darek Sharp chat with Davis Jr. - the interview begins with his 5 quick points for the Cougars in a game this past season at the Yuengling Center! Davis Jr. famously averaged 40.8 points during his junior season in high school playing in Wisconsin. He admits he felt the scoring would come freely in college but he adjusted - and it showed, as after carrying a 6.2-point average into February, he scored no fewer than 7 in the remaining nine contests, twice establishing college career highs of 14 and 16.
Jun 106 min

They'll all be headed to Eugene, Oregon for the NCAA Championshps next week where Croal will compete in the 200 mters, as well as the 4x100 relay. The Bulls' 4x400 relay squad completes the list of events USF's men have qualified for as the season concludes at the ultimate meet.
